Savannah's Curse by Shelia M. Goss My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Savannah’s Curse by Sheila M. Goss is a Romance Thriller. The book opens up with Savannah Blake going to visits the home of her father, a retired Major from “The Agency,” where she finds him dying from a gunshot wound. He dies shortly thereafter, but not before telling her about some hidden information and a man named Bridges that she should locate. He also makes her promise to protect her sisters. Savannah, along with sisters Asia and Montana, set out to find their fathers killer. Bridges shows up unannounced and Savannah learns he is someone from her past, but with his help the goal to avenge their fathers’ death becomes a little easier.
Savannah’s Curse is what I call a good lazy day at the beach read. It’s not dramatic or deep, but enough to relieve the stress of the day, sort of like a Calgon bath…just take me away. Romance is not my genre of preference but Ms. Goss can definitely hold her own. The story moved at a fast pace and I liked the angle she took in having the 3 sisters turn into vigilante undercover agents.
I found the suspense aspect of the book lacking. The villain was revealed way too early in the book. Although I loved how she incorporated a lot of technology used in modern day espionage, at no point was there ever any mention of listening devices placed in Savannah’s home, where most of the planning took place, and this stayed on my mind throughout the book. Also, it was never clearly revealed what the main characters curse, was. At the end of the book Ms. Goss mentions something about her poor choices in dating, but that seemed a bit out of place since the book was about her fathers murder, and there was nothing in the storyline that indicated Savannah had a poor, dating track record.
In terms of Romance, I give Savannah’s Curse 4 stars; as for the Thriller aspect, I give 3 stars, for a total rating of 3.5 stars.
Much Love,
